No cookies. We do not store user-agent fingerprints, names or e-mail addresses.
Language and region
The home page sends you to the version for your language and country, for example /de-ch. Your browser picks it from its language setting and time zone, on your device; neither is sent to us. When you choose a version in the language menu or close the language hint, the browser keeps that choice in local storage under the key "locale", so the home page does not send you elsewhere next time. The choice also decides which eBay marketplace the shop links open. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
What we collect
Anonymised usage events, so we can see how the simulator is used and improve it.
A page view records the path. When the address contains them, it also records the source, including a visit from ChatGPT, whether two lenses are compared, and the focal lengths, apertures and sensors.
An interaction records the control, such as focal length, aperture, sensor, scene, pose, compare or share, together with the page path.
The IP address inside these events is set to 0.0.0.0. It is neither stored nor used to determine your location.
Who receives it
The website is hosted on Microsoft Azure. The events are processed by Azure Application Insights in Switzerland North. Microsoft keeps them for 90 days and then deletes them.
Shop links
eBay links leave this site. eBay then applies its own privacy policy and may set cookies. A purchase through one of these links may earn us a commission, at no extra cost to you.
Your rights
The events are not tied to an account or a name, so we usually cannot pick out one person's visits. You can still ask for access, a correction or deletion: hi@lenssimulator.photo.
You can also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
